Greenville, S.C. - With her dominant performance last Wednesday against Bluefield State, Calista Gibson has been named Conference Carolinas Women's Wrestler of the Week.
Gibson earned the honors with a win in the 133-pound division against Bluefield State in the final home match of the season for the Railsplitters, as the junior reversed her opponents takedown into a two-point takedown of her own before earning two nearfall points, eventually winning the round via Fall in 1:31.
Gibson's win helped propel the Railsplitters to a 18-16 victory over the Big Blue, capturing their first conference win of the season and setting a new single-season wins record for the Splitters.
This marks the first Player of the Week award for Gibson in her career, and just the second time a Railsplitter has earned this award, with Shonticia Taft capturing the honors earlier in the season.
