Men's and women's track and field slated for Tryon Banked meet this weekend

Harrogate, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial University men's and women's track and field teams will return to action this weekend as they travel to Mill Spring, North Carolina, for the Tryon Banked Meet, a large and highly competitive event that will feature more than 50 teams from across the region. Among the programs scheduled to compete are Tusculum, ETSU, Newberry, and Wingate, setting the stage for a deep field and strong performances as the Railsplitters continue their indoor season.

Lincoln Memorial enters the meet with momentum after an impressive showing at the UNC Asheville Collegiate Opener, where both squads delivered a complete team effort across all disciplines. The Railsplitters recorded multiple personal bests and saw several school records fall, highlighting the depth and balance of the program. Standout personal bests included Jaxson Branham's 8:37, Conner Chandler's 9:22, and David Gober's 9:31 in the 3000 meters, Dawn Sherwood's 5:59 in the mile, Justus Long's 7.27 in the 60 meters, Maggie Sanderson's 10.37 in the 60-meter hurdles, Jewel Gamedah's 4.11 meters in the long jump, Callie Wetzel's 59.9 in the 400 meters, Caleb Chittum's 52.73 in the 400 meters, Trevyn Beam's 23.76 in the 200 meters, Sterling Webb's 58.44 in the 400 meters, Jackson Clonce's 12.72 meters in the shot put and 15.11 meters in the weight throw, and Olivia Edenfield's 9.40 meters in the shot put.

School records were also a highlight at UNCA, with Luis Borkey running 1:20 in the 600 meters, Sam Fulton clocking 2:33 in the 1000 meters, and Jackson Clonce setting a new mark in the weight throw at 15.11 meters. The women's team was led by Sterling Webb, who captured first place in the 400 meters and added a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles while also winning the high jump. Callie Wetzel followed with a second-place finish in the 400 meters, while middle-distance and distance runners such as Reaghan Curde, Katrien Sherwood, Allyssa Gent, and Olivia Truelove provided strong contributions. The women's throwing group was anchored by Ashley Parrish in both the shot put and weight throw, with support from Kylee Alvis, Madeline Dalton, and Olivia Edenfield.

On the men's side, Lincoln Memorial showcased depth and top-end talent, highlighted by a victory in the 4x400-meter relay from Vincent Quilici, Nile McLymont, Orion Wright, and Guillaume Bogaert. Individual wins came from Luis Borkey in the 600 meters and Sam Fulton in the 1000 meters, while Joel Borkey added a second-place finish in the 800 meters. The distance group saw multiple athletes place inside the top 25 in the 3000 meters, and the throwing events were led by Jackson Clonce and the Hatfield brothers in both the shot put and weight throw.

With strong performances already on the board and a large, competitive field awaiting in Mill Spring, the Tryon Banked Meet presents another opportunity for the Railsplitters to build on their early-season success and continue establishing themselves as a balanced and dangerous program across all event areas.
