Softball Set for Home Opener Doubleheader Wednesday vs. West Virginia State

HARROGATE, TN -  Lincoln Memorial University softball opens its home schedule on Wednesday, Feb. 11, with a doubleheader against West Virginia State University at the Dorothy Neely Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m., followed by game two at 5:00 p.m.

The Railsplitters enter the home opener looking to build on early-season flashes from the opening weekend at the Big Region Tournament. Through four games, Hannah McMeen leads LMU at the plate with a .417 average and five hits, while Reese Vivrette is hitting .333 with four runs scored and five hits. Anna Kate Reichter is also batting .333 and leads the team with a .929 OPS, highlighted by two doubles and a team-best six total bases, and Hanna Bogoski is hitting .333 with four hits, including a double, and two RBI. As a team, LMU has produced 18 runs on 24 hits in the season's first four contests.

In the circle, Katie Fultz has posted a 2.52 ERA with seven strikeouts across 8.1 innings, including a strong extra-inning outing on Monday in which she allowed one unearned run and struck out seven while giving up just one hit. Brooke Strickland has logged 13.0 innings with eight strikeouts, and Jasmine Kaylor has added 4.0 innings of work early in the season.

West Virginia State enters Wednesday's doubleheader playing its first games of the 2026 season and was picked sixth in the Mountain East Conference South Division preseason poll. The Yellow Jackets and Railsplitters have met three times in the series history dating back to 2009, with the most recent meetings coming on Feb. 8–9, 2020, in Harrogate. Lincoln Memorial earned an 8-0 win in the last matchup on Feb. 9, 2020, while West Virginia State took a 10-7 victory the day prior.

Wednesday's twinbill marks the first home opportunity of the season for the Railsplitters in front of the LMU crowd at Dorothy Neely Softball Complex, as Lincoln Memorial looks to turn early-season experience into momentum moving forward. Live stats and streaming will be available through the LMU Athletics website.
