Nashville, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial men's and women's track and field programs delivered record-setting and highly competitive performances against some of the best competition in the country at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, highlighted by multiple school records and standout individual efforts.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Callie Wetzel, Jacie Begley, Sterling Webb, and Theresa Brosthaus etched their names into the record books with a school-record performance of 3:57.43, finishing eleventh overall and second in their heat. On the men's side, the 800 meter final produced another milestone moment as junior Luis Boerkey finished fourth overall in 1:51.70 to establish a new school record in the men's 800 meters with a strong closing kick.
The men's 4x400 relay squad of Vincent Quilici, Joel Boerkey, Orion Wright, and Hunter Preston combined for a 3:24.01 finish to place twelfth overall. The men's distance medley relay team of Roman Borghetti-Metz, Nile Mclymont, Caleb Chittum, and Vance Laster finished eighth overall in 10:57.09, while the women's DMR quartet of Natalia Iker, Emma Hainzer, Weslyn McIntosh, and Reaghan Curde secured tenth overall in 12:53.86.
Junior Vincent Quilici delivered a standout performance in the men's 200 meter final, clocking 21.77 seconds to set a new school record while placing tenth overall. Quilici later ran 48.83 seconds in the 400 meter final to finish eighth overall and break the school record in that event as well. In the men's 60 meter prelims, freshman Justus Long led the squad at 7.20, followed by Trevyn Beam at 7.36 and Orion Wright at 7.38, with Long and Beam also competing in the 200 meters.
Joel Boerkey added a thirteenth-place finish in the men's 800 meters at 1:52.42, while senior Sam Fulton ran 1:58.69. Freshmen Roman Borghetti-Metz and Caleb Chittum posted times of 1:22.60 and 1:23.35 in the 600 meters. Vance Laster completed the mile in 4:29.66.
In the men's 3000 meters, Jaxson Branham led the team with an 8:39.83 performance, followed by Christopher Daniels in 9:44.78 and David Gober in 10:12.40. Branham returned in the 5000 meters to win his heat in 14:56.50, while Simon Fillers finished in 15:27.01 and Conner Chandler ran 15:36.70.
In the women's 800m, Theresa Brosthaus ran 2:15.52 setting a new school record in the event, followed by Jacie Begley in 2:17.75, and Callie Wetzel posted 59.65 in the 400 meters. Reaghan Curde ran 5:11.34 in the mile and Natalia Iker finished in 5:25.24. Emma Hainzer led the women's 3000 meters in 10:28.23, followed by Weslyn McIntosh in 10:37.06 and Katrien Sherwood in 12:12.01. In the 5000 meters, Allyssa Gent ran 19:48.47 and Olivia Truelove finished in 20:05.70.
Sterling Webb led the women's 60 meter hurdles in 9.07, with Jersy Nelke at 10.06 and Maggie Sanderson at 10.87. In the high jump, Reilly Vierdag cleared 1.54 meters, Webb also cleared 1.54 meters, and Emily McPherson competed. Webb added a 5.45-meter mark in the long jump.
Ashley Parrish recorded 39 feet 5.5 inches in the shot put and 49 feet 1.5 inches in the weight throw, while Kylee Alvis threw 33 feet 10.5 inches in the shot put and 41 feet 10.75 inches in the weight throw, and Cate Turner added 42 feet 3.25 inches in the weight throw. On the men's side, Jackson Clonce recorded 42 feet 6 inches in the shot put and 48 feet 1.75 inches in the weight throw, while Avery Hatfield posted 38 feet 10.5 inches in the shot put and 44 feet 0.5 inches in the weight throw.
With five school records in the men's 200 meters, men's 400 meters, men's 800 meters, women's 800 meters, and women's 4x400 relay, Lincoln Memorial leaves Nashville with significant momentum heading toward the conference championships.
