Baseball slated for weekend series with Emory & Henry

Harrogate, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial baseball team is set to host a three game South Atlantic Conference series against Emory and Henry this weekend at Lamar Hennon Field. While the match up was originally scheduled to take place in Emory, Virginia, the games were moved to Harrogate due to poor field conditions at the Emory & Henry facility. Despite the change in location, the series will officially count as an away series for the Railsplitters even as they play on their own home turf.

Lincoln Memorial enters the weekend with significant momentum after claiming its first conference series victory of the season against Carson-Newman last weekend, winning two of the three games. The Railsplitters followed up that performance with a successful midweek non-conference victory over Thomas More to further solidify their rhythm heading into the weekend.

The Railsplitter offense has been defined by aggressive baserunning and high contact numbers. Peyton Mullannix currently leads the conference in stolen bases with eight while maintaining a 0.463 on-base percentage. He is joined on the basepaths by Gabe Gray and Caleb Jordan, who are both tied for third in the conference with six stolen bases apiece. Gray has been a consistent force at the plate with a 0.354 batting average, while Brady Morse leads the regular starters with a 0.375 average and a 1.059 OPS. Other notable offensive contributors include Nick Kaelin, who is hitting 0.455 through five games, and Ronny Matti, who holds a 0.370 average.

On the mound, the Lincoln Memorial pitching staff has been led by Peyton Armour, who currently ranks fifth in the conference with 15 strikeouts. Armour has maintained a 2.41 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP over 18.2 innings of work. The staff also features strong performances from Lucas Smith, who carries a 2.08 ERA, and Easton Barnett, who sits at a 2.84 ERA with 12.2 innings pitched. As a unit, the Railsplitters have struck out 89 batters on the season, good for second in the conference, and will look to continue that dominance against the Emory & Henry lineup.

The series is scheduled to begin with a single game on Friday followed by a doubleheader on Saturday.
