Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial baseball team is set to return to Lamar Hennon Field for a midweek non-conference showdown as they host Trevecca Nazarene University on Tuesday. The Railsplitters enter the match up with an 8-7 overall record and a 4-2 mark in conference play, carrying significant momentum after a successful start to their South Atlantic Conference schedule. Lincoln Memorial is coming off a hard-fought series victory over Emory & Henry, which secured their second conference series win of the season. In both of their opening conference sets, the Railsplitters have shown resilience by claiming two out of three games to establish themselves early in league competition.
The visiting Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene arrive in Harrogate with a strong 9-4 overall record and an impressive 5-1 start in their own conference play. Trevecca has been one of the hottest teams in the region lately, having won eight of its last nine games. This midweek contest provides a high-level test for both programs as they step outside of conference action to maintain their winning form.
Lincoln Memorial's offensive effort continues to be paced by a group of consistent hitters who have provided power and stability at the top of the lineup. Gabe Gray leads the primary starters with a .393 batting average and a .982 OPS, having started all fifteen games while scoring fourteen runs while driving in 10. He is joined by Brady Morse, who has been a major run producer for the Railsplitters, hitting .383 with a team-high 13 runs batted in and a .583 slugging percentage. Peyton Mullannix and Caleb Jordan have also been vital contributors, batting .315 and .309 respectively, with Jordan providing extra-base depth with four doubles and two home runs. Additionally, Seth Newkirk and Nick Kaelin have made the most of their appearances, with Newkirk boasting a .429 average and Kaelin providing power with two home runs and a .867 slugging percentage in limited action.
On the mound, the Railsplitters have relied on several key arms to navigate a challenging early-season schedule. Lucas Smith has been a standout in the pitching staff, posting a 2.30 ERA over 15.2 innings of work while striking out ten batters. Easton Barnett and Payton Armour have also shouldered significant innings, with Barnett holding a 4.41 ERA and Armour contributing twenty-two innings of work. The staff has also seen perfect earned run averages in relief from AJ Hootman and Merrick Graham. As a unit, the Lincoln Memorial pitchers have combined for 122 strikeouts and look to continue that trend against a potent Trevecca Nazarene lineup.
First pitch is slated for 3 PM on Wednesday.
