Women's Tennis Drops First Match of Season to Anderson

Anderson, S.C. - The Lincoln Memorial Women's Tennis team dropped their first match of the season, falling on the road by a single match to conference opponent Anderson 4-3. The loss drops the Railsplitters to 4-1, 0-1 in the South Atlantic Conference.

The Railsplitters took the doubles point from Anderson, with the second and third pairings securing wins. In the second doubles pair, the team of Adriana Pellizzari and Natalia Reimer had an uphill battle against the Trojans' second pairing, as the Railsplitters duo found themselves trailing 4-1 early into the set. After falling behind 2-5, the duo of Reimer and Pellizzari battled back, fighting for six consecutive points to eventually come away with a 7-5 win.

In the third pairing, Marta Melnichenok and Lucie Palud raced out to a commanding lead and never looked back. The dynamic duo raced ahead 4-1 from their opponents and survived the late surge from Anderson to secure the 6-3 victory and the doubles point for the Railsplitters.

In singles competition, the Railsplitters picked up wins from the second and third position over Anderson, as LMU took both wins in straight sets.

Rosalie Carrier-Dulac would win the second singles match in a back-and-forth battle with her opponent, as Carrier-Dulac would fall behind 4-1 in the first set. Four unanswered points got Carrier-Dulac ahead of her opponent, and a final run of 6-1 secured the 7-5 set one win. Set two would be equally challenging, as Carrier-Dulac traded points early before falling behind 4-2. That would be the last lead for Anderson in the second pairing, as Carrier-Dulac finished off four consecutive points to secure the 6-4 set win and a match victory.

Pellizzari was able to breeze through the third singles pairing, taking the opening match 6-1 after opening up a 5-0 lead on her opponent before eventually taking the second set 6-2 and the third pairing overall.

The Railsplitters also saw an individual set win from Mia Rodriguez, who took one in the sixth pairing.

Lincoln Memorial is back in action tomorrow, facing #7 North Georgia on the road at 10:00 a.m.
