Harrogate, TN -- Junior women's wrestler Calista Gibson has been named the First Century Bank Scholar Athlete of the Week. A native of Sevierville, Tennessee, Gibson has proven to be a vital asset to the Railsplitters program through her combined dedication to academics, community service, and athletic performance.
In the classroom, Gibson maintains a 3.680 GPA as a Political Science and pre-law major. Her academic achievements will be formally celebrated this spring when she is inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma national college athlete honor society. Beyond her studies, she serves as a leader within the athletic department as a representative for the wrestling team on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
Gibson's impact extends well beyond the campus of Lincoln Memorial University through an extensive record of volunteerism. She has spent time painting curbs in Middlesboro, Kentucky, and helping serve food during Octoberfest in the Gap. Her commitment to service is a year round endeavor, as she participates in the Halloween trick or treat at Tex Turner Arena and regularly donates food and clothing during the holiday seasons. Additionally, she remains connected to her roots by coaching her former high school wrestling team in new techniques and assisting local elementary school children with their field day preparations.
On the wrestling mat, Gibson has compiled a series of impressive highlights throughout her career. She was previously named the Conference Carolinas player of the week following a match against Bluefield where she secured a fall in one minute and thirty three seconds. She also earned a notable win at the Patriot Duals at Liberty University featuring a four point near fall. Most recently, on November 23, 2025, she secured a dominant win via a 15-0 Technical Fall in the 131 pound weight class at the Baldwin Wallace Open.
