Greenville, S.C. - A dominant January from the Lincoln Memorial Women's Wrestling team has yielded one final accolade from the first month of the year, as Shandrea Morgan was named the Conference Carolina's Freshman Women's Wrestler of the Month.
Morgan played a major role in the Splitters first win of the month, netting a fall in the 180-pound weight class thanks to two takedowns, including a late pin to secure the fall win in just 1:40 of action.
The fall secured key points for the Railsplitters in the eventual two-point win over Bluefield State, marking the Splitters third win of the year and first against conference opponents.
Morgan's award marks the third individual award for the Splitters women's team this year, and the first time that a Railsplitter has won freshman of the month.
LMU hits the mats again tomorrow to participate in the Blue Raider Open, hosted by Lindsey Wilson University.
