Columbia, KY – In their final individual tournament of the year, the Lincoln Memorial Women's Wrestling team saw its individual competitors shine, as LMU took six wins in the Blue Raider Open, hosted by Lindsey Wilson University.
In the 117 bracket, Riley Flickinger began the tournament with a resounding win over her opponent from Lindsey Wilson, netting four points just 50 seconds into the first period before completing three additional takedowns in the span of just 30 seconds to secure a 10-0 Tech Fall win in 1:32.
Flickinger kept her day rolling in her third bout, taking just 1:22 to pin her opponent from the Blue Raiders in 1:22 to secure a Fall victory and improving to 2-1 in the tournament. Flickinger earned her next win via Fall again, this time taking just 42 seconds to close out her match vs an opponent from Brewton-Parker College.
Alyssa Roberts would see similar success in the 131-class, squaring off against Georgetown in the opening round, getting two early takedowns and riding out the pin for a 4-0 Fall victory in 1:36 of wrestling. Roberts would add a win over Emory & Henry, taking down the same opponent she defeated on Thursday night in 40 seconds.
In the 145-division, Shonticia Taft earned a berth in the quarterfinals by taking down her opponent from hosting Lindsey Wilson, with a late first period four-point nearfall setting the tone into the final frame, where Taft turned a reversal into an eventual four points and an 11-0 Tech Fall win.
Taft picked up her second win of the day by securing another Tech Fall, defeating her foe from Lindenwood after earning nine quick points in the first period. Taft would finish the bout just thirty seconds into the final frame to end an 11-0 win.
The Railsplitters will close out the regular season on Friday, traveling to Bristol to face King in a conference dual and Newberry in a neutral site competition.
