Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University baseball team is set to host Bluefield State University for a non-conference match up at Lamar Hennon Field on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 3:00 PM. The Railsplitters currently hold a team batting average of .282 and a collective .811 OPS as they look to build momentum in their early season schedule. Head Coach Justin Haywood's lineup has been paced by standout performer Gabe Gray, who carries a team-best .414 batting average and 1.090 OPS into the contest. Gray has recorded 12 hits and 5 RBIs in seven starts, serving as a catalyst for an offense that has produced 16 doubles and three home runs across its first seven games.
Lincoln Memorial's offensive depth is further highlighted by Brady Morse and Ronny Matti, with both hitting well over the .350 mark. Morse leads the squad with a 1.128 OPS and a .643 slugging percentage, while Matti has contributed 7 hits and 5 RBIs in six games played. Caleb Jordan and Peyton Mullannix have also been reliable contributors at the plate, with Jordan hitting .346 and Mullannix maintaining a .469 on-base percentage while leading the team with five stolen bases. Additional power has come from Alex Kowalski, who has driven in four runs and maintains a .647 slugging percentage through five starts.
On the mound, the Railsplitters have seen dominant early-season performances from Lucas Smith and Payton Armour. Smith has been nearly untouchable in his two appearances, posting a 2.16 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP while holding opposing batters to a .167 average over 8.1 innings. Armour has shouldered a heavy load for the rotation, logging 13.0 innings and striking out 15 batters while earning one of the team's two victories. The pitching staff has also benefited from the reliability of Easton Barnett, who has made three appearances and recorded one save, and Eli Edds, who has struck out five batters in four innings of work.
The Tuesday afternoon clash serves as a key mid-week test for Lincoln Memorial as they face a Bluefield State program led by second-year head coach Scott Considine. The two teams met twice during the 2025 season, including a dominant 17-1 victory for the Railsplitters in Harrogate last April.
