Softball Set for SAC Home Opener vs. No. 19 Carson-Newman Saturday

HARROGATE, TN - Lincoln Memorial softball returns home Saturday, March 14 for its South Atlantic Conference home opener, welcoming No. 19 Carson-Newman for a doubleheader at the Dorothy Neely Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., followed by game two at 3:00 p.m.

The Railsplitters enter the weekend at 8-14 (0-2 SAC) and will look to turn the page after opening league play on the road. LMU has shown it can score in bunches, batting .290 as a team with 174 hits, 36 doubles, and six home runs through 22 games. Hanna Bogoski has been one of the most consistent bats in the lineup, hitting .368 with 25 hits and eight RBI, while Reese Vivrette is batting .351 with a team-high 19 runs scored. Hannah McMeen has provided steady production in the middle of the order, hitting .314 with 12 RBI and a team-best 36 total bases, and Kristin Griffin has added impact power with two home runs and 12 RBI. Jordann Reagan has also been a tough out, posting a .438 on-base percentage with six doubles, a triple, and a home run.

In the circle, LMU has leaned on a balanced staff as conference play begins. Jasmine Kaylor leads the team with three wins and has logged 43.2 innings, while Brooke Strickland has worked 36.0 innings with a team-best 29 strikeouts. Aslynn Lupton has given LMU valuable innings as well, and Katie Fultz has been another key option with 22 strikeouts across 35.2 frames.

Carson-Newman arrives ranked No. 19 and carrying one of the most explosive offenses in the region, entering the weekend at 20-5 (1-1 SAC) while batting .369 as a team. The Eagles have scored 175 runs in 25 games, combining speed and extra-base production with 47 doubles and 42 stolen bases, and they've also been solid in the circle with a 3.40 team ERA and five shutouts.

Saturday's twinbill adds another chapter to a long SAC rivalry. The series has been tight over the years, with Carson-Newman holding a narrow edge overall, but LMU has won six of the last 10 meetings and took the most recent matchup, a 7-1 win in the 2025 postseason on May 2. With conference points on the line and LMU back on its home field, Saturday sets up as a high-level SAC test against a nationally ranked opponent.
