Harrogate, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial baseball team is set to host Kentucky State University for a mid-week non-conference match up at Lamar Hennon Field in Harrogate. This contest was originally slated for Tuesday, but was pushed back to Wednesday, March 18, to accommodate both programs following an arctic burst that impacted the region. The Railsplitters enter the game with significant momentum after securing another South Atlantic Conference series victory by taking two out of three games against Coker over the weekend. Following that performance, Lincoln Memorial holds a 16-10 overall record on the season with a strong 10-5 mark in conference competition.
The Lincoln Memorial offense has been productive throughout the spring, led by Gabe Gray who maintains a team-high .380 batting average and 41 hits. Caleb Jordan and Brady Morse provide consistent threats in the heart of the order, batting .365 and .364 respectively, while combining for 27 runs batted in. The Railsplitters have also proven to be aggressive on the base paths, successful on 51 of 66 stolen base attempts this year. Peyton Mullanix leads that charge with 12 stolen bases, a mark that currently ranks him fifth in the conference. Other contributors include Kevin Fernandez, who boasts a .508 slugging percentage, and Nick Kaelin, who has made the most of his opportunities with a .467 average in limited action.
On the mound, the Railsplitters pitching staff carries a collective 4.88 earned run average and has struck out 219 batters over 223 innings of work. Payton Armour has been a reliable arm for the staff, logging 38.1 innings with 29 strikeouts and a 3.52 earned run average. The bullpen and starting rotation feature several winning options, including Lucas Smith, Bradric Helton, and Eli Edds, who have each recorded three victories on the mound this season. Adrian Smith also remains a key component of the rotation, having struck out 31 batters while maintaining a 1.31 walks plus hits per innings pitched ratio.
