Harrogate, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial baseball team is set to host Bluefield State University for a midweek non-conference match up on Tuesday afternoon at Lamar Hennon Field in Harrogate. The contest is scheduled for a 4 PM first pitch as the Railsplitters look to repeat their early season success against the Big Blue. In their previous meeting this year, Lincoln Memorial dominated with a 12-2 victory that ended early via the run-rule.
The Railsplitters enter the contest with several hitters providing significant power and consistency at the plate. Gabe Gray leads the team with a .358 batting average and 44 hits through 30 games, while Caleb Jordan follows closely with a .349 average and 23 runs scored. Brady Morse has been a consistent run producer, recording 41 hits and 23 runs batted in, and Peyton Mullannix provides a steady presence with a .324 average and 12 doubles. Nick Kaelin has been particularly effective in his 15 games of action, boasting a .395 batting average and a 1.143 OPS. Other key contributors include Kevin Fernandez, who is hitting .277 with 21 runs scored, and Seth Newkirk, who maintains a .308 average in limited action.
On the mound, Lincoln Memorial features a pitching staff that has combined for a 4.66 ERA across 257 innings of work. Payton Armour has been a workhorse for the Railsplitters, logging 45 innings with 31 strikeouts and a 3.60 ERA. Bradric Helton and Lucas Smith have both been reliable options, each posting a 2.92 ERA over 24.2 innings. Adrian Smith has also contributed significantly to the rotation, recording 27 strikeouts in over 37 innings of play. In relief, AJ Hootman and Ian Milliner have both maintained perfect 0.00 ERAs in their appearances this season. The staff has shown an ability to limit damage, evidenced by Easton Barnett's 4.18 ERA and Dylan Maire's team-high 18 appearances as they look to shut down the Bluefield State offense once again.
