GREENVILLE, SC – The No. 24 Lincoln Memorial University women's golf team wrapped up play at the South Atlantic Conference Championship (Apr. 12–14) at The Preserve at Verdae Golf Club with a sixth-place finish at +18, closing a strong regular-season stretch against one of the deepest conference fields in Division II.
LMU put itself in the mix early with opening rounds of +9 and +5, then finished the week with its best day of the championship by posting +4 in the final round to hold steady in the top half of the leaderboard. Wingate claimed the SAC team title at –1, edging Lander (+2) at the top, while North Georgia and Lee shared third (+13).
Individually, Joy Aspetaki delivered one of the top performances of the entire championship, finishing third overall with a three-round 213 after rounds of 74-72-67. Aspetaki also paced the field on the short holes and was among the tournament's most aggressive scorers, finishing first in par-3 scoring (2.67) and second in total birdies (16).
The Railsplitters got steady support throughout the lineup. Millie Russell finished T-23rd at 220 (77-70-73), while Ruby McLellan added a T-25th finish at 221 (73-76-72). Dilyara Bulambayeva rounded out the team scoring with a T-46th finish at 228 (73-75-80).
With the SAC Championship complete, Lincoln Memorial now turns its attention to the postseason picture following a spring run that included multiple top finishes and a tournament victory earlier in the semester.
