Harrogate, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial baseball team is set to take its momentum on the road this weekend for its first away conference series of the season against Anderson University. The Railsplitters head into the match up following a dramatic week at Lamar Hennon Field, highlighted by a thrilling 6-5 extra-inning victory over Lee University on Wednesday. That win marked the team's third walk-off celebration in just eight days, a testament to the late-inning heroics that have come to define the squad early in the 2026 campaign.
The Railsplitters currently sit at 11-9 overall with a 5-4 record in South Atlantic Conference play. Despite their overall record being slightly behind the Trojans, who enter the weekend at 14-5, Lincoln Memorial holds the advantage in the conference standings. Anderson currently sports a 4-5 mark in league action, placing them just behind the Railsplitters as both teams look to climb the SAC ladder during this pivotal three-game set.
Offensively, Lincoln Memorial has been paced by several standout performers who have provided consistent production at the plate and on the base paths. Gabe Gray has served as a primary catalyst for the offense, maintaining a 0.358 batting average and a 0.887 OPS through the first twenty games while leading the team with twenty-nine hits. Brady Morse and Caleb Jordan have provided significant power and consistency, with Morse batting 0.341 with eight doubles and a team-leading 18 RBI, and Jordan hitting 0.333 while driving in thirteen runs.
Speed has also been a major factor for the Railsplitters, specifically through the aggressive baserunning of Peyton Mullannix. Mullannix, who currently carries a 0.292 average and a 0.427 on-base percentage, has been a constant threat to opposing catchers. He has successfully swiped ten bases on twelve attempts this season, a mark that currently ranks fourth in the South Atlantic Conference for total stolen bases. Additional support has come from Nick Kaelin, who has made the most of his opportunities with a 0.417 average and a 1.326 OPS in limited action, and Alex Kowalski, who leads the team with seven doubles and recently delivered the game-winning hit against Lee.
On the mound, the Railsplitters have leaned on a pitching staff that has shown flashes of dominance against tough regional competition. Lucas Smith has emerged as the anchor of the rotation, sporting a 2.25 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP over twenty innings of work, striking out fourteen batters. His performance has been among the elite in the league, as he currently holds the fourth-best ERA in the South Atlantic Conference among qualifying pitchers. Adrian Smith has also been a vital piece of the staff, recording a 4.12 ERA across five appearances.
The staff's depth is further bolstered by Easton Barnett, who earned the win in relief against Lee and currently holds a 2-0 record with a 4.64 ERA. Payton Armour and Eli Edds have also provided valuable innings, combining for thirty-nine strikeouts so far this year. As the Railsplitters prepare for the offensive challenge posed by the Trojans, they will look for continued consistency from these arms to secure a successful road trip.
