Men's Lacrosse To Host Catawba On Saturday

Harrogate, TN - Lincoln Memorial men's lacrosse will have their second home conference match of the week on Saturday, March 7th as they host the #16 Catawba Indians at 1 pm at LMU Lacrosse Complex. 

The weekend contest will be the 11th overall meeting between the two teams, with Lincoln Memorial falling in the series 1-9. The only victory that the Railsplitters have over the Catawba Indians is in March of 2018, where LMU defeated Catawba 11-8. 

Lincoln Memorial is coming off of a 17-13 win over Tusculum on March 4th. Jenson Jones led the team in points with six for five goals and one assist, and Brixten McKenzie led in ground balls with eight and won a team-high 23 face offs. Goalkeeper Jayden Herman got the win with a 30% save percentage. 

In the South Atlantic Conference, McKenzie is third in face off winning percentage (69%) and eighth in ground balls per game (4.80). Reid is second in the conference in goals per game (3.40) and ninth in points per game (4). Jones is ninth in the SAC in points per game (4) and fifth in shot percentage (50%). Herman is fourth in the conference in save percentage (51.3%) and seventh in saves per game (8.2).

Nationally, McKenzie is seventh in face off winning percentage and Reid is 15th in goals per game. 

As a team, Lincoln Memorial is fifth in the SAC in total assists (37), fifth in in clearing percentage (86.8%), second in face-off win percentage (63.8%), fourth in total ground balls (178), fourth in ground balls per game (35.60), third in man-up offense (.529), fifth in points (114), fifth in points per game (22.80), second in scoring defense (9.80), second in scoring margin (5.60), second in scoring offense (15.40), and second in win percentage (80%).

Nationally, LMU is 11th in face-off win percentage, 24th in clearing percentage, 15th in ground balls,  third in man-up offense, 15th in points per game, 16th in scoring margin, and ninth in scoring offense. 

Catawba is coming off of a 11-15 loss against #17 Newberry on March 4th.

Leaders for the Catawba Indians include Peyton Turner (#13), who leads in points with 14 for team-highs 13 goals and 11 assists, Owen Conway (#17) who leads with 10 caused turnovers, and Ben LoPiccolo (#17) who had 54 saves on the season. 

LMU is going into the weekend with a 4-1 overall record and a 1-0 conference record, and the Railsplitters are tied for first place in the conference standings with Anderson, Wingate, and Newberry. 

Catawba is entering Saturday with a 4-1 overall record and a SAC record of 0-1, and the Catawba Indians are tied for third place in the SAC standings with Tusculum, Emory & Henry, and Mars Hill. Catawba was most recently voted #16 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).
