Box Score HARROGATE, Tenn. -- Six different players tallied multiple goals, paced by a four-goal outburst from freshman
Hanna Ratliff (Somerset, Ky.), as the Lady Railsplitters (3-2-3) reset the program's single-match scoring record in an 18-0 win over the Hiwassee Tigers (0-7) on Wednesday afternoon at the LMU Soccer Complex.
Lincoln Memorial, who had scored just nine times in its first seven matches, posted 10 goals in the first half and then added eight more in the second half to break the school's all-time record for goals, which was previously set by the 2000 team in a 17-0 win over Campbellsville. It was the first double-digit scoring performance for the Lady Railsplitters since the 2007 season, when they produced 10 goals in a win over Milligan. It was just the ninth time Lincoln Memorial had ever scored double-digits goals in match.
The Lady Railsplitters poured it on early, piling up eight goals before 20 minutes had expired in the match. They held a 10-0 lead at the break and added four goals in the first 13 minutes of the second stanza.
In addition to the scoring record, the program's single-match shot record also fell as the Lady Railsplitters outshot the Tigers 83-0 with 33 shots on goal. That shattered the previous record, which was also set in that match against Campbellsville in 2000 (69).
Ratliff recorded four goals and two assists in the contest, tying Erin Alexander (1996) and Gretchen Dever (2000) for the third-most points in a match with 10. In the second appearance of her collegiate career, Ratliff, who had previously not recorded a shot this season, became just the 10th player in program history to score four goals in a match.
Five other players scored two goals for the Lady Railsplitters.
Olivia Thompson (Melbourne, Fla.) registered a pair of goals, an assist and 11 shots, while
Caroline Souza (Sao Paulo, Brazil) compiled two goals and 10 shots.
Claire Leasure (Franklin, Tenn.) and
Michelle Hunter (Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada) had two goals and two assists apiece.
Kaitlyn Waddle (Corbin, Ky.) also notched a pair of goals.
Maddy Nagy (Viera, Fla.) finished with a goal and a career-high three assists.
Hiwassee goalkeeper Ballie McMahan finished with 14 saves in the match, while neither
Kathryn Lundy (Pinckney, Mich.),
Brooke Taylor (White Pine, Tenn.) or
Kayla Stephens (Keller, Texas) faced a single shot.
Next up, the Lady Railsplitters host the 16th-ranked Wingate Bulldog in South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday at 1 p.m.
