Lady Railsplitters host SAC-leading and 15th-ranked Trojans on Wednesday

HARROGATE, Tenn. -- Vying for the second win of the season against a nationally-ranked opponent and looking to snap a three-game losing streak versus Anderson, the Lady Railsplitters (8-5, 5-3 SAC) welcome the SAC-leading and 15th-ranked Trojans (10-1, 8-0 SAC) to Tex Turner Arena for a 6 p.m. tip-off on Wednesday night.

Since last beating Anderson 62-58 on January 8, 2014, the Lady Railsplitters have suffered three heartbreaking losses to the Trojans. LMU saw its 2013-14 season come to close with a 71-64 overtime loss to Anderson in the quarterfinals of the SAC Championship, while the Trojans won both regular-season meetings in 2014-15 by nine combined points. Last season's game at Tex Turner Arena was especially painful, as the Lady Railsplitters nearly overcame an 18-point second-half deficit before succumbing to Anderson 82-78.

The Lady Railsplitters are 4-8 all-time against Anderson with an even 3-3 mark in Harrogate since the series began in 2011.

The Trojans enter Wednesday's contest sporting a 10-1 overall record with a perfect 8-0 mark in South Atlantic Conference play and the No. 15 national ranking. The Lady Railsplitters already boast one top-25 victory this season, as they knocked off No. 20 Carson-Newman in the SAC opener back on November 25 to collect the program's first victory over a nationally-ranked opponent since 2005.

Lincoln Memorial is coming off of its most prolific three-point shooting performance since 2011, as the Lady Railsplitters went 11-for-21 from three-point range to pace an 80-66 win over the Queens Royals last Saturday at Tex Turner Arena. Bench scoring was another key to that victory, as Lincoln Memorial's second unit outscored the Royals' bench 50-5, led by Ross Mathis' (Greer, S.C.) team-high 11 points. Megan Pittman (Liberty, Ky.) grabbed double-digit rebounds for the fourth game in a row with a game-high 10 boards, while Kiara Rawls (Killeen, Texas) produced 10 points.

The win ran LMU's SAC record to 5-3 and kept the Lady Railsplitters near the top of the jumbled league standings. Less than halfway through the SAC slate, Anderson is alone at the top, while Wingate and Newberry are tied in second at 6-2. Lincoln Memorial and Coker are just a game behind those two in a tie for fourth place.

On paper, Anderson is rather pedestrian offensively, averaging 65.9 points per game on 41.4 percent shooting and a 31.6 percent clip from three-point range. But the Trojans are elite defensively and on the backboards. Anderson is holding opponents to a mere 32.1 percent shooting and 54.8 points per game, ranking third and 16th in the country in those categories, respectively. The Trojans are also ranked 29th in the nation in rebounding margin with a plus 6.6 advantage on the glass. Their 43.2 rebounds per game ranks second in the SAC behind only Lincoln Memorial, who grabs 43.9 boards per game.

Anderson's starting five accounts for the bulk of its offensive production. Jennifer Monroe - a 5-11 forward from Clemson, S.C. - leads the way for the Trojans with 14.1 points and 9.9 rebounds per game on 49.6 percent shooting. A 5-6 guard from Cowpens, S.C., Madison Floyd is racking up 10.9 points per game with a 34.6 percent clip from three-point territory, while Heather Jankowy, a 5-6 junior, has produced 10.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Nakia Young has accounted for 10 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, but is shooting just 38.5 percent, while 5-11 forward Alexis Dillard is contributing 8.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per appearance on 57.1 percent shooting.

The Trojans overcame an eight-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears 57-54 and remain unbeaten in South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday in Hickory, N.C. Young paced Anderson in that contest with 14 points, while Floyd added 13 points.

Anderson has won two of the last three SAC regular-season titles, compiling a 20-2 league record in 2014-15 to take the crown two years after capturing the 2012-13 championship with a 14-4 SAC mark.

Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at Tex Turner Arena. Live stats, video and audio links are available at www.LMURailsplitters.com.
