HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's basketball team closes out the non-conference portion of their schedule as they host Lees-McRae Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. in the Tex Turner Arena.
LMU comes into the game with a 5-0 record after the 102-99 overtime win at Carson-Newman Tuesday evening. The win moves LMU to 5-0 for the first time since the 1991-92 season.
LMU rushed out to an early 16 point lead at C-N, only to have a couple of second quarter scoring droughts enable the Lady Eagles to come back and take a late first half lead. The Lady Railsplitters would tie the game four times in the third quarter but never take the lead. The fourth quarter saw four ties and three lead changes with LMU grabbing the late lead before a C-N layup with 28 seconds left tied the game. A
Shea Coker (Knoxville, Tenn.) shot with two seconds left caromed off the rim and the game went to overtime. In OT the Lady Railsplitters grabbed the lead and held on for the 102-99 win.
It was the highest scoring game in the series' long history, and several career highs resulted from that. Coker had 25 points to lead LMU while
Karsen Sims (Gatlinburg, Tenn.) had 17 points, both career highs.
Megan Pittman (Liberty, Ky.) chipped in 18 points while
Josey Harding (Middletown, Ohio) had 16.
C-N's Mika Wester led the Lady Eagles with 28 points, which was a career high.
The biggest career high of the night was Harding's 27 rebounds, which set a new LMU and SAC record and are the most by any player to this point this season, male or female, amongst all NCAA Divisions.
Saturday's game will be video streamed live on the LMU Sports Network and LMU will also be providing live stats.
