HARROGATE, Tenn. -- The Lady Railsplitter tennis team improved to 4-1 on the season with a dominating 8-1 victory over King University (0-5) at the LMU Tennis Complex Thursday afternoon.
LMU won two out of three matches in doubles play and swept all six flights in singles play to take the 8-1 decision.
Elena Vasilyeva and
Javiera Gonzalez took the win at No. 1 doubles with their 8-0 win over Katya Cerny and Ashley Salazar. Priscila Bulandres and
Rosa Smith won over Alyssa Salazar and Nia Gilliam 8-0 at No. 3.
King's lone win of the day came at No. 2 doubles with KU's Haley Maloney and Marianne Hull narrowly defeating
Marta Pinol and
Roksolana Prudyvus 8-6.
In singles action, Vasilyeva defeated Gilliam 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1, Pinol won over Cerny at No. 2 6-1, 6-1 and Gonzalez blanked Ashley Salazar 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 flight. Bulandres was victorious over Hull 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, Prudyvus defeated Alyssa Salazar 6-1, 6-0 and Solano overcame Maloney 6-0, 6-3.
The Lady Railsplitters open up SAC play this weekend as they travel to Wingate on Saturday and Catawba on Sunday.
