Beach Volleyball drops two matches at College of Charleston Invitational

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. -- The LMU beach volleyball team opened their first day of competition with a pair of 5-0 losses to College of Charleston and Mercer Saturday at the Creekside Tennis and Swim Club.

MATCH ONE VS. COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
The Lady Railsplitters dropped the program opener to tournament host College of Charleston (4-4) by a 5-0 margin. 

The match at the No. 4 position went to three sets as the duo of Jordan Green (Hazel Green, Ala.) and Fernanda Miaci (São José dos Campos, Brazil) won the first set 21-12 but dropped the second one 21-13 and narrowly lost the tiebreaker set 15-12.

The other four matches were straight set victories by the Cougars, though the duo of Jamie Jehne (Hollywood, Fla.) and Bristol Snider (Chattanooga, Tenn.) played a hard fought match at the No. 2 position, falling 21-19 and 21-11.

MATCH TWO VS. MERCER
Mercer (6-4), the Atlantic Sun Conference runner-up last season, swept the Lady Railsplitters to pick up the victory. Four of the five matches were in straight sets.

The duo of Green and Miaci narrowly lost their first set 21-19 at the No. 3 position before falling 21-11 in the second set. Samantha Cash (New Carlisle, Ohio) and Kiera Holland (Columbia, S.C.) had a hard fought match at the No. 6 position, falling 21-13 and 21-11.
