MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. -- The LMU beach volleyball team concluded play in the Colleg of Charleston Beach Invitational with a pair of 5-0 losses to Alabama-Birmingham and Georgia State Sunday at the Creekside Tennis and Swim Club.

MATCH ONE VS. UAB
The day's opening match against Alabama-Birmingham (9-2) was a hard-fought contest, but UAB prevailed in the end.

The match at the No. 4 position went to three sets as the duo of Samantha Cash (New Carlisle, Ohio) and Erica Whiteaker (Kingston Springs, Tenn.) won the first set 25-23 but dropped the second one 21-14 and narrowly lost the tiebreaker set 15-11.

The match at the No. 3 position featuring Jamie Jehne (Hollywood, Fla.) and Bristol Snider (Chattanooga, Tenn.) was another hard fought match as they ended up falling 21-14 and 21-18.

MATCH TWO VS. #8 GEORGIA STATE
Eighth-ranked Georgia State cruised to the 5-0 win with all matches being won in straight sets.

The matches at the No. 3, 4 and 5 positions were closest of the contest. At No. 5 Kiera Holland (Columbia, S.C.) and Peyton McDaniel (Morristown, Tenn.) narrowly lost the first set 21-19 and fell in set two 21-15. No. 4 saw Jordan Green (Hazel Green, Ala. and Fernanda Miaci (São José dos Campos, Brazil) fall 21-13 and 21-15 while Cash and Whiteaker lost at No. 3 21-15, 21-11.

LMU will take advantage of Spring Break on campus by playing a pair of matches in Florida before finishing up the week at the Georgia State Sand Slam. In Florida they will play Webber International Tuesday at 11 a.m. and Eckerd Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
