ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The LMU beach volleyball team (1-7) picked up the the first win in program history Tuesday afternoon, but dropped the remaining three games of their two day swing through Florida. They split a pair with host Webber International 3-2 and 2-3 on Tuesday and lost 4-1 and 4-1 at Eckerd on Wednesday.
MATCH ONE VS. WEBBER INTERNATIONALThe Lady Railsplitters picked up wins at the No. 1, 3 and 5 positions to claim their first win. After going down 2-0 with losses at the No. 2 and 4 positions,
Jordan Green (Hazel Green, Ala.) and
Fernanda Miaci (São José dos Campos, Brazil) picked up the first set win in program history with their 21-19, 21-13 win at the No. 5 position. This was soon followed by a 22-20, 21-16 win by
Samantha Cash (New Carlisle, Ohio) and
Erica Whiteaker (Kingston Springs, Tenn.) at No. 4.
With the match on the line,the duo of
Abby Cash (New Carlisle, Ohio) and
Brooke Fleeman (Nashville, Tenn.) went to a tiebreaker set at No. 1, coming from behind to win 20-22, 21-19, 15-11 to seal the win for LMU.

MATCH TWO VS. WEBBER INTERNATIONALOnce again, it came down to the match at No. 1, but this time Cash and Fleeman were unable to win the tiebreaker set, falling 18-21, 21-14, 18-16 and giving Webber International the win.
Green and Miaci cruised to the 21-13, 21-10 win at No. 5 while
Kiera Holland (Columbia, S.C.) and
Peyton McDaniel (Morristown, Tenn.) needed the tiebreaker to win at No. 4 21-15, 14-21, 15-7.

Samantha Cash and Whiteaker picked up LMU's lone win of the match with their 21-19, 21-10 win at No. 3.
Abby Cash and Fleeman took their match at No. 1 to the tiebreaker for the third straight match, falling 16-21, 21-14 and 15-13. The duo of Green and Miaci also had a close match at No. 5 as they lost by a combined four points, 21-19 and 23-21.

The Lady Railsplitters now have a day off before competing in the Georgia State Sand Slam Friday and Saturday. They will face UNC-Wilmington and eighth-ranked Georgia State Friday and Louisiana-Monroe and Eckerd on Saturday.
