HARROGATE, Tenn. -- It came down to the final set, but the Lady Railsplitters held off a determined Carson-Newman squad to pick up the 7-2 South Atlantic Conference win Wednesday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex.

With the win LMU improves to 12-4, 7-3 in SAC play while Carson-Newman falls to 10-4, 4-4 in the SAC.

Carson-Newman swept all three doubles flights to take the 3-0 lead into singles play. 

In singles, LMU took five of the six flights to take the 5-4 match victory.

At No. 1, Elena Vasilyeva improved to 7-3 in conference play as she won 6-2, 7-5. Marta Pinol cruised to the 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2 spot to move to 13-3 overall and 8-2 in SAC play.

Carson-Newman won at No. 3 as Javiera Gonzalez fell in three sets 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

At No. 4, Priscilla Bulandres picked up her 11th singles victory of the season as she won 6-3, 6-0. Roksolana Prudyvus continued her tear through the SAC as she is now 9-1 in SAC play with her 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5. Angelica Solano improved to 11-5 on the season as she won at No. 6 6-3, 6-4.

LMU travels to Bellarmine for a 1 p.m. Sunday match against the Knights.
