HARROGATE, Tenn. – After winning their home opener over Clayton State 76-68 on Saturday, the No. 24/12 Lincoln Memorial University women's basketball team now heads back on the road for a pair of games against local East Tennessee rivals. First up is King University on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
LMU enters the game with a 2-2 record after splitting a pair of games last week, losing at UVa-Wise and defeating Clayton State. King also enters the game with a 2-2 record, with all games being against SAC teams.

The team is currently ranked 24th in the WBCA Preseason Top 25 Coaches' Poll and 12th in the D2SIDA National media poll. The new polls come out just before tip-off on Tuesday

Shea Coker posted a career-high 32 points and
Emily Griffith chipped in 15 points. LMU used a strong third quarter performance to build a double-digit lead and then wore down the Lakers in the fourth quarter to sail to the 76-68 victory.
SCOUTING KING
· The Tornado are currently 2-2 on the season, with all games being against SAC members. They defeated Mars Hill 67-53 to open the season before dropping games vs. Tusculum (96-60) and Carson-Newman (80-52). On Saturday they broke open a tie game in the third quarter to outlast Newberry 71-61.
· Josh Thompson is in his seventh season at King and has a 175-227 overall record and a 75-154 record at King.
· The Tornado went 25-7 last year, their best since joining the NCAA a decade ago, and went 19-3 in Conference Carolinas play. The team made their first trip to the NCAA Tournament last season after winning the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
· The team was hit by graduation and transfer losses, losing the top five scorers from last season. Amy Van Deventer and Armelle Collins both return for their senior seasons, along with junior Kristen Cupples, after seeing a lot of playing time last year.
· Van Deventer is the leading returning scorer for King. Last season she averaged 5.4 points and 5.1 rebounds a game. Currently, Cupples is the leading scorer for the Tornado, averaging 12.0 points a game, followed by Collins at 10.0 points a game. Kori West is the leading rebounder, pulling down an average of 8.5 a game, followed closely by Van Deventer with 8.3 rebounds a game.
SERIES HISTORY
· This is the third-oldest active series for the Lady Railsplitters (behind Carson-Newman and Tusculum), who have played King 26 times and have a 23-3 record against them. All three of King's wins have come since the series was revived in 2006. LMU is 11-1 vs. King in Bristol.
· The teams were both members of the Volunteer State Athletic Conference and Tennessee Valley Athletic Conference in the 1970s and 1980s.
· In last year's meeting, LMU led from wire-to-wire in 90-71 win in the Tex Turner Arena. Five players had double-figure scoring for the Lady Railsplitters, led by Megan Pittman and
Karsen Sims with 15 points apiece.

Sydney Duggins had 11 and
Ross Mathis chipped in 10 points. Josey Harding led all players with what was then her career-high 21 rebounds. She then went on to set the LMU and SAC record with 27 in the next game at Carson-Newman. LMU led the Tornado in rebounding by a 50-44 margin and shot 42.9 percent for the game.
· In the last meeting in Bristol, it was a whirlwind affair as both teams went out to nine point leads, only to see their opponent come back each time before LMU prevailed 78-70 in overtime. LMU never trailed in the OT period. Megan Pittman led LMU with 15 points and 15 rebounds while
Shea Coker and Britney Guy each poured in 14 points. Sydnie Anderson also had 11 points in the win. LMU dominated on the boards by a 50-33 margin.

Krystal Evans is in her fourth season at LMU. She has a 61-34 overall record.
· One of the key stats for the team in the
Krystal Evans era is rebounding. During her tenure, LMU has only been out-rebounded by their opponents in 13 out of 95 games. The team currently leads the SAC in offensive rebounds per game (21.5) and is third in both total rebounds (46.0) and rebound margin per game (8.8).
· Three-point shooting is another hallmark of recent LMU teams, with LMU being amongst the national leaders last season.
Shea Coker currently leads the SAC in three-point percentage and is fourth in made treys. She is also second in points per game and offensive rebounds, fourth in made field goals and fifth in points.

· POINTS – Following her 32-point effort last Saturday,
Shea Coker currently has 897 points and ranks 26th in the career scoring ranks, trailing Anita Nelums (1992-95) by 11.
· FIELD GOALS – Coker ranks at 24th on the made field goals list with 347. She trails Jennifer Childs (1999-03) on this list by three field goals. She also ranks 15th in career field goal percentage, hitting 48.3 percent of her field goals.
· THREE-POINTERS - Coker is 8th in made treys with 104 and is the ninth Lady Railsplitter with 100 or more career three-pointers. She trails seventh-place Stephanie Wagner (2007-09) by one. Coker is also 13th on the three-point attempts list with 234, and is first on the 3-pt percentage list with a .444 percentage.
Ross Mathis is 12th in made treys with 85 and trails #11 Katrina Ottesen (2013-15) by four. She is 8th on the attempts list with 257 and ranks 12th on the percentage list with 33.1%. Also ranked in the top 50 on the made three-pointer list are
