HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's basketball team returns home for the first game of a three-game South Atlantic Conference home stand when they host Catawba Saturday at 2 p.m.
LMU enters the game with a 3-3 overall record and a 0-1 record in SAC play after falling 76-72 at Tusculum Wednesday evening. Catawba is also 3-3 overall and the Indians won their SAC opener at Queens 73-44 on Wednesday. The Lady Railsplitters are ranked seventh in the latest D2SIDA Regional Poll.

In their loss at Tusculum, LMU entered the fourth quarter down by double digits but battled back to cut the lead to two points but were unable to pull out the win as they fell 76-72. Four players had double-figure scores for LMU, led by
Emily Griffith and
Shea Coker with 18 points apiece.
Rachel Griffith and
Karsen Sims chipped in 10 points each.
Emily Griffith also had a team-high seven rebounds.
SCOUTING CATAWBA
· The Indians are currently 3-3 and 1-0 in SAC play. Their wins have been over Mount Olive, Chowan and Queens. Their losses have been to Barton, Fayetteville State and Bowie State.
· Angie Morton is in her 15th season as the head of the Catawba Indians. Prior to that she spent seven seasons at Pfeiffer. Her record at Catawba is 227-181 and her overall record is 325-272.
· The Indians return five seniors, led by All-SAC First Team member Terri Rogers. Rogers, who averaged 18.8 points and 8.8 rebounds a game last season, has picked up right where she left off as she currently is averaging 23.3 points and 8.3 rebounds a game.
· Mershauna Butler and Serena Brown are also standouts for the Indians. Butler is averaging 11.2 points and 6.8 rebounds a game while Brown averages 10.2 points and 4.5 rebounds a game.
· As a team, Catawba is averaging 65.8 points a game while holding opponents to a 65.0 points per game average. They are out-rebounding opponents by a 40.5-37.2 average and are being out-shot by opponents 39.2 percent to 37.0 percent. They do rank second in the SAC in three point percentage (35.7) and third in three-pointer made per game (7.5). They are currently seven in points per game (65.8) and ninth in rebounds per game (40.7).
SERIES HISTORY
· This series began when LMU joined the SAC in 2006, although the two teams participated in several of the same tournaments over the years without facing each other. The teams are currently tied at 11-11, with LMU holding an 8-3 record in the Tex Turner Arena.
· One highlight of this series for Lady Railsplitter fans is LMU's 88-85 loss at Catawba on Jan, 20, 2010. The loss came in spite of Dayshalee Salaman's 44 point performance for the Blue and Gray, which is the LMU women's single-game scoring record.
· In the last meeting, LMU sealed their first-ever SAC Championship as they cruised past Catawba 88-67 in Salisbury on Feb. 35, 2017. LMU went on a 10-2 run in the second quarter and never looked back in the win. Megan Pittman led LMU with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Rachel Griffith had 15 points while
Shea Coker chipped in 13 points. Josey Harding almost had her fourth 20-rebound performance of the season as she pulled down 19 rebounds. The Lady Railsplitters held Catawba to 31.3 percent shooting from the field and 13.2 percent from three-point range while out-rebounding them 59-30.
· In the last meeting in Harrogate on Jan. 14, 2017, a three-pointer and a basket by Megan Pittman enabled LMU to pull away mid-way through the fourth quarter as the Lady Railsplitters held on for the 56-54 win as they improved to 15-0 overall and 10-0 in SAC play. The loss spoiled a monster performance from Catawba's Bri Johnson, who had 32 points, including six three-pointers. LMU was led by Pittman's 19 points and 16 rebounds.
Shea Coker had 16 points and
Karsen Sims chipped in 12. LMU owned the boards by a 52-38 margin and the game featured 10 ties and 22 lead changes.

Krystal Evans is in her fourth season at LMU. She has a 62-35 overall record.

Shea Coker is currently leading the team in scoring (both two- and three-point) and rebounding, with a 19.0 points and 6.3 rebounds a game average. She currently leads the SAC in three-point percentage and is third in points per game and offensive rebounds.
Emily Griffith is second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.5 points a game.
Maggie Jachimczuk and
Dasia Maxwell are both second on the team in rebounding, pulling down 4.2 a game.
· As a team, LMU ranks first in the SAC in offensive rebounds per game, third in rebounds per game, fourth in rebound margin and points per game. They rank fifth in three-point percentage and made free throws.
· LMU also ranks fourth in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game, 30th in rebounds per game and 42nd in turnovers forced.
Shea Coker is ranked in nine national categories, including 15th in three-point percentage.

Shea Coker is making a run at joining the 1,000 point club as she currently has 930 points. She has now cracked the top 25 in the career scoring ranks, trailing 24th place Brandy Brown (1994-98) by 15 points.
· FIELD GOALS – Coker ranks 23rd on the made field goals list with 360. She trails Karra Jackson (1998-02) on this list by three field goals. She also ranks 15th in career field goal percentage, hitting 48.3 percent of her field goals.
· THREE-POINTERS - Coker is seventh in made treys with 106 and is the ninth Lady Railsplitter with 100 or more career three-pointers. She trails sixth-place Kara Harris (2007-09) by eight.
