Women's basketball host 17th-ranked Southern Indiana for Tuesday holiday hoopfest

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's basketball team will host their final game before taking a break for Christmas as they host nationally ranked Southern Indiana Tuesday evening.

LMU enters the game at 5-5 overall on the season and a 2-3 in the SAC following a 53-47 loss at Newberry Saturday afternoon. Southern Indiana is ranked 17th in the most recent WBCA Coaches' Poll and seventh in the D2SIDA National Media Poll.

The Lady Railsplitters had a cold shooting day on Saturday at Newberry, hitting a season low 26.9 percent. The host Wolves didn't fare much better and eked out the six point win in the final seconds. Rachel Griffith led LMU with 11 points while Qua Hines chipped in nine points. Shermeria Quarles had seven rebounds to lead the team.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN INDIANA
· The Screaming Eagles are currently 9-0 overall and 2-0 in GLVC play. The teams have no common opponents. This is the farthest South that USI will play all season, unless Trevecca Nazarene were to host an NCAA Midwest Women's Regional in March.

· Rick Stein is in his nineteenth season as the head coach at Southern Indiana. Stein, a former player at USI, joined the staff as an assistant coach in 1991 and became the head coach in 1999. His career record is 322-203.

· The Eagles return seven players, including three starters, from last season's 24-5 squad. They were picked to finish first in the GLVC East after winning the division last season.

· The Screaming Eagles are led by a pair of All-GLVC performers. Kaydie Grooms leads the team in scoring with 18.8 points a game. She is also third on the team in rebounding and second in assists. Fellow All-GLVC performer Morgan Dahlstrom is averaging a double-double with 17.3 points and a team-leading 10.1 rebounds a game. Randa Harshbarger leads the team in assists, averaging 3.8 per game.

· As a team, Southern Indiana is averaging 72.8 points a game while holding opponents to 49.3 points per game. They are also out-rebounding the competition by a 7.1 per-game margin on average and are out-shooting the competition 43.9 percent to 32.0 percent. They lead the GLVC in scoring defense, rebounding margin and steals.

· USI is one of twelve unbeaten teams left in NCAA Division II women's basketball. They rank seventh in scoring defense and eighth in blocked shots per game.

SERIES HISTORY
· USI leads the series 1-0, with the lone meeting being in Evansville.

· In their lone meeting on Nov. 24, 2009, the Eagles used a pair or first half runs to go ahead by 17 points. After extending the lead to as much as 26 in the second half, LMU rallied to cut the lead to nine points mid-way through the second half before eventually falling 86-78. Amberly O'Dell led LMU with 21 points as the Indiana native played for the final time in her home state. Blandine Kikwiki-Mamuku had a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 14 rebounds while Dayshalee Salaman chipped in 13 points. LMU out-shot (50.0-48.8) and out-rebounded (41-34) the Eagles for the contest.

SCOUTING LMU
· Head Coach Krystal Evans is in her fourth season at LMU. She has a 64-37 overall record.

· Shea Coker is currently leading the team in scoring (both two- and three-point) and rebounding, with a 15.8 points and 5.7 rebounds a game average. She currently leads the SAC in three-point percentage and is fifth in offensive rebounds and ninth in made field goals.

 · Emily Griffith is second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.1 points a game. Cameryn DuBose is second on the team in rebounding, pulling down 4.1 a game, closely followed by Maggie Jachimczuk and Dasia Maxwell with 3.7.

· As a team, LMU ranks first in the SAC in offensive rebounds per game, fourth in rebounds per game, three-point percentage, rebound margin and points per game. They rank fifth in made free throws.

· LMU also ranks seventh in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game, 19th in rebounds per game and 78th in turnovers forced. Shea Coker is ranked in eight national categories, including fifth in the nation in three-point percentage. Emily Griffith is ranked in free throw percentage.

RECORD WATCH
· POINTS –Shea Coker is close to joining the 1,000 point club as she currently has 958 points. She is currently tied for 22nd in the career scoring ranks, trailing 21st place Andi Winney (2006-09) by 15 points.

· FIELD GOALS – Coker ranks 22nd on the made field goals list with 372. She trails Brandy Brown (1994-98) on this list by three field goals. She also ranks 15th in career field goal percentage, hitting 48.3 percent of her field goals.

· THREE-POINTERS - Coker is seventh in made treys with 110 and is the ninth Lady Railsplitter with 100 or more career three-pointers. She trails sixth-place Kara Harris (2007-09) by four and fifth place Heather Brown (1993-97) by six. Coker is also 11th on the three-point attempts list with 248, and is first on the 3-pt percentage list with a .444 percentage. Ross Mathis is 12th in made treys with 88 and trails #11 Katrina Ottesen (2013-15) by one. She is 8th on the attempts list with 270 and ranks 13th on the percentage list with 32.6%. Also ranked in the top 50 on the made three-pointer list are Karsen Sims (23rd) Rachel Griffith (37th) and Sydney Duggins (40th).

· ASSISTS – Ross Mathis ranks 35th in career assists with 142 and trails Ruth Simpson (1992-94) and Mollie Cooper (1994-97) by one. Karsen Sims is 39th on the list with 134 assists and trails Bridget Long (1990-94) by three.
