Railsplitters host high-scoring Redhawks on Tuesday

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Railsplitters (1-1) host the second leg of their three-match homestand on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. when they square off against the high-scoring Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks (2-0) at the LMU Lacrosse Complex. Lincoln Memorial is two days removed from a hard-fought 10-8 win over Alabama-Huntsville in the 2017 home opener, while Roberts Wesleyan is coming off of a 21-9 beatdown at Lees-McRae.

-Kyle Arcuri (Patchogue, N.Y.) scored with 5:05 left and Nick Borriello (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) added an insurance goal with 3:17 remaining to help the Railsplitters pull away late and defeat the Chargers 10-8 in the home opener on Saturday afternoon. Lincoln Memorial trailed after the opening quarter, but took the lead for good in the second. The match was tied late in the fourth quarter until the Railsplitters' finished on that 2-0 run in their first-ever meeting against Alabama-Huntsville.
 
-Adam Golia (Victoria, British Columbia) had two goals and an assist against Alabama-Huntsville to increase his team-leading point total to five. Billy Kopsky (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Robert Tucker (Wantagh, N.Y.) are nipping on his heels with four points apiece, while Arcuri and Borriello have two points each on two goals. Arcuri leads the team in shots with 13, but Golia has a team-best six shots on goal.
 
-The Railsplitters have struggled at the face-off x early in the season, winning just 40 percent of face-offs through the first two matches. LMU went 11-for-29 against Florida Tech and 9-for-21 against UAH. Lincoln Memorial also needs to improve on clearances, as the Railsplitters are last in the South Atlantic Conference in clear percentage with a 73.7 percent mark.
 
-The Railsplitters have started slow in both matches this season and have been outscored by a combined total of 8-2 in the first quarter. They trailed 5-0 at the end of one against Florida Tech and faced a 3-2 deficit after 15 minutes against Alabama-Huntsville. Thankfully, Lincoln Memorial has been much better in the second quarter, when they are currently holding a 6-3 scoring edge for the season.
 
-Lincoln Memorial leads the SAC in shots per game with 29. The Railsplitters had 37 shots against Alabama-Huntsville.
 
-The Railsplitters are 8-5 all-time in matches played in Harrogate. Lincoln Memorial is in the midst of a three-match homestand that ends on March 1 against Tennessee Wesleyan.
 
-Senior goalie Joe Medel (Virginia Beach, Va.) is expected to make the start in net for Lincoln Memorial. He has played 115:16 minutes this season, compiling a 12.49 goals against averaged with 21 saves and a 46.7 save percentage over that span.
 
-Tuesday stands as the Railsplitters' first meeting against Roberts Wesleyan. In fact, it will be Lincoln Memorial's first showing against an East Coast Conference affiliate.
 
Notes on Roberts Wesleyan:
-The Redhawks are off to a 2-0 start to the 2017 campaign after demolishing Hampton University 20-8 in their opener and following that up with a 21-9 win at Lees-McRae on Sunday. Roberts Wesleyan started 2-0 last season as well, but ended the year by winning just one of its last 14 contests.
 
-Alex Bianchi (5 goals, 2 assists) and Cody Menzies (5 goals, 2 assists) led the Redhawks in that win over Lees-McRae, while Brady Martin finished with two goals and two assists. Bianchi also had three goals and two assists against Hampton, while Collin Waden chipped in two goals and three assists. Menzies had a goal and three assists in that contest. Jordan Crusha and AJ Hemms have also been frequent contributors for the Redhawks.
 
-Bianchi leads Roberts Wesleyan with 12 points, while Menzies has 11. No other Redhawk has more than six points, but 15 different players have at least one point so far this season.
 
-Keith Keehn has started both matches at goal for Roberts Wesleyan this season. He allowed seven goals and made seven saves over 37 minutes of work against Lees-McRae after posting that same stat line against Hampton in the season opener in 45 minutes of action.
 
-Roberts Wesleyan is currently ranked 12th in the nation according to the LaxPower computer rankings. By comparison, Lincoln Memorial is 41st. The Redhawks compete in the loaded East Coast Conference, which features three other teams ranked in the top 25 of LaxPower's computer rankings – No. 8 Mercy, No. 19 Molloy and No. 23 LIU Post, who was one of eight teams to play in the 2016 NCAA Tournament. That doesn't include No. 56 NYIT, the unanimous preseason favorite to win the ECC.
 
-Roberts Wesleyan has yet to finish with a winning record in the program's five previous seasons. The Redhawks posted a program-record six wins during the 2014 campaign.
