MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The LMU beach volleyball team was nearly perfect on the day as they only lost one flight out of ten, and that one going to a tiebreaking third set, as they defeated Huntingdon 4-1 and Spring Hill 4-0 in the Huntingdon Beach Tournament.

The Lady Railspliters improve to 3-1 on the season with the two wins.

LMU saw two of the five matches against Huntingdon go to three sets. At no. 1, Abby Cash and Lindsay Nartker cruised to the 21-17, 21-9 win over Nichole LeFevre and Emily Fedonczak, while at no. 3, Rylee Storms and Erica Whiteaker won over Shelby McAllister and Lexie DeVuyst 21-12, 21-15. At no. 5, Danielle Stachura and Kai Wesemann defeated Amy Tyma and Kaitlyn Carter 21-15, 21-12.

LMU won the three-set match at no 2, where Danielle Ged and Hailey Lake eked out the 21-16, 11-21, 20-18 win over Bria Rochelle and Alexis Creasman; but fell at no. 4 when HC's Addison Genard and Cheyenne Scarbrough won over LMU's Beka Wachob and Tone Gill 12-21, 21-14, 15-13.

In the day's final match vs. Principia, the Lady Railsplitters swept the Panthers in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Cash and Nartker defeated Cha Fisher and Devon Marunde 21-9, 21-9 at the no. 1 flight while Ged and Lake bested Emelie Fredrikson and Nikki Matters 21-11, 21-14 at no. 2. Storms and Whiteaker stormed past Emma Herman and Amanda Roberts 21-10, 21-8 at no. 3 and at no. 4, Stachura and Wesemann coasted to the 21-9, 21-15 win. Wachob and Gill then defeated Mesa Goebel and Sarah Ungerleider 21-6, 21-18 at no. 5 to complete the sweep.

LMU will play in Carson-Newman's tournament next weekend, where they will face Austin Peay and Huntingdon in addition to the hosts. Their first match is on Friday at 3 p.m. against the Governors of Austin Peay.
