JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – LMU took the number one and number two flights, but Austin Peay captured flights three through five and took the 3-2 win over the Lady Railsplitters Friday afternoon at the C-N Sand Courts in their first match in the Carson-Newman Invitational.
LMU (3-2) falls to 2-1 all-time against the Governors (3-8) with the loss.
Kayla Kidney and
Sarah Jones took the 21-15, 21-17 win over Nina Korfhlage and Claire Darland in the non-counting extra flight match to start things off for the day.
Beka Wachob and
Tone Gill then fell 21-15, 21-7 at no. 5 and
Danielle Stachura and
Kai Wesemann lost a close match at the no. 4 flight. The Governors then claimed the match victory when
Rylee Storms and
Erica Whiteaker fell to Haley Turner and Jenna Panning at the no. 3 flight.
LMU grabbed their first point of the match when
Abby Cash and Lindsay Nartker defeated Ginny Gerig and Cecily Gable at no. 1 21-11, 21-11. With the win, they improve to 4-1 on the season. That win was followed by
Danielle Ged and
Hailey Lake's three set win at no. 2, where they also improved to 4-1 on the season with the 21-19, 19-21, 15-11 win over APSU's Brooke Moore and Caroline Waite
