LAKELAND, Fla. – The LMU beach volleyball team split on day two of their spring break trip as they defeated Florida Southern 4-1 and fell to Tampa 5-0.
Against FSC, Danielle Stachura and Kai Wesemann coasted to the 21-9, 21-18 win over Courtney Charneco and Kayla Trefren at flight no. 4 and at no. 5 Kayla Kidney and Sara Jones took the first set from Katie Lowe and Kaitlin Umberhandt 21-19 before falling in set two 21-17, forcing a tiebreaker set that LMU won 15-6.
Abby Cash and Lindsay Nartker won their team-leading sixth match of the season as they cruised past Anna Tovo and Allie Geary 21-16, 21-12 at no. 1 while Rylee Storms and Erica Whiteaker defeated Lauren Kenny and Nicole Mattson in three sets 21-18, 7-21, 15-9 at no. 3.
At the no. 2 flight, Danielle Ged and Hailey Lake took Sydney Marshall and Makena Wilson to three sets before falling 23-21, 20-22, 15-11 to give Florida Southern their only point of the match.
The team had to turn around and play Tampa and the Spartans took advantage of that as they defeated LMU 5-0.

LMU will conclude their spring break road swing through Florida as they travel to Babson Park to face Webber International and Saint Leo Wednesday afternoon.
