FLORENCE, Ala. – For the first time in its five-year history, the Lincoln Memorial University beach volleyball team sits 2-0 after beginning its 2020 campaign with a pair of 5-0 sweeps Friday at the Shoals Beach Bash in Florence, Alabama. Hosted by the University of North Alabama at the UNA Beach Volleyball Complex, the Lady Railsplitters started their fifth season by defeating Huntingdon College before routing Hendrix College.
Against the Warriors of Hendrix, a first-year program, LMU was dominant and gave up no more than 13 points in any set.

Emma Winford and junior
Yileen Ng He cruised to a 21-7, 21-13 win at the top spot, while seniors
Rylee Storms and Lindsay Nartker took down Grace Turner and Caroline Garlington 21-6, 21-8 in the second flight.

Sarah Jones and sophomore newcomer
Gabriela Abreu earned a 21-12, 21-8 victory as the third pairing and the sophomore tandem of
Emily Walter and
Caitlin Bethell allowed only 11 combined points in a 21-5, 21-6 shellacking at the No. 4 spot. The freshman pairing of
Sierrah Lemons and
Karlie Bowlin were 21-3, 21-9 winners for the fifth match.
