ANDERSON, S.C. - Coming off the biggest upset in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball postseason history, the Lincoln Memorial University women's basketball team (10-10) will look to continue their astonishing postseason run in the 2021 South Atlantic Conference Pilot Flying J Women's Basketball Championship as they take on the Anderson Trojans on Thursday, Mar. 4. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m.
The Lady Railsplitters took on Carson-Newman inside Holt Fieldhouse and came away with a 78-72 victory over the top-seeded Eagles. Posting their second win in three tries against a top-25 opponent this season, LMU never trailed after the first quarter in the historic victory.
Mikayla Kuehne came off the bench to score a team-leading 21 points with eight rebounds while
Lindsay Proffitt drained huge shots all game and finished with 17 points and a team-leading nine boards.
Lauren Flowers scored 14 points with eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals while
Lexi Kiser had 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
Versus The Trojans
The Lady Railsplitters have a 6-19 all-time record against Anderson. The last victory against the Trojans came on Jan. 3, 2018 inside B. Frank "Tex" Turner Arena by a score of 71-68. LMU will look to win their third contest against Anderson inside Abney Arena since the schools began meeting in 2011.
About Anderson
Anderson is coached by Jonathan Barbaree, who is in his fifth season as the head coach of the program. Prior to becoming the head coach, Barbaree was the head coach at the College of Coastal Georgia and an assistant at Georgia State, Furman, and Georgia College. Coming off a 26-5 (19-3 SAC) season, the team is 14-10 so far this year. A balanced attack sees six players average between eight and 11 points per game, with Samantha Michel leading the way at 10.3 and Taylor Hair joining her in double figures with an even ten. Britney Bailey leads the team and ranks fourth in the South Atlantic Conference in rebounding at 9.6 per contest.
