SALISBURY, N.C. – Capturing a win at the No. 3 flight, the Lincoln Memorial University beach volleyball team kicked off the weekend at the 2021 South Atlantic Conference Beach Challenge in Salisbury, North Carolina, Friday afternoon versus Tusculum University. Despite falling 4-1 to the Pioneers (5-9), the Lady Railsplitters (3-4) got a three-set victory from the junior/freshman duo of
Emily Walter and
Olivia Snyder.
Walter and Snyder teamed up to eke out a 22-20 set one triumph over Tusculum's Britney Shawel and Diana Bierwagen. After a 21-14 set two setback, Walter and Snyder finished things off with a 15-9 win in the decisive third set to earn LMU's lone point of the day.
The freshmen tandem of
Haley Brown and
Katie Cardenas nearly claimed a victory at the No. 4 flight but came up just short (24-22, 21-18) against the Pioneers' Skyellar Hall and Emily Lawless. Tusculum clinched the contest at the No. 5 flight when the Pioneer pair of Mabry Ward and Arizona Webb outlasted sophomores
Sierrah Lemons and
Makayla Fox, 21-15 and 21-19.

The Lady Railsplitters wrap up their condensed 2021 beach campaign Saturday with a pair of duels against Carson-Newman University and SAC Beach Challenge host Catawba College. LMU will tangle with the Eagles at 11 a.m. before the season finale against the Indians at 6 p.m.
