Oakwood, GA- The men's and women's cross country squads finished their seasons strong at the NCAA Southeast Regional this weekend. The men finished 6th out of the 28 team field in their 10k race while the women would finish 8th of 24 teams competing in the 6k.Â
Head Coach Kavalunas added this in regards to Saturday's results: "Both men's and women's squad finished the season with some strong performances. I'm really proud of this group. Their hard work, focus, and ability to come together and compete as a team was outstanding this season. The women just didn't quite have the depth to stay in top 5 but had some great individual performances highlighted by
Kaylee Estridge earning All-Region honors. The men had an outstanding race as a team running very strong as a pack, just a super performance by the guys."
The women's 6k race would feature 164 runners finishing in the field. The Lady Railsplitters would be led by freshman
Kaylee Estridge whose 20th place finish with a time of 22:38.2 would give her All-Region honors.Â
On the men's side, 182 runners would finish the 10k race, with
Marig Engelbrecht leading the way for LMU with his 27th place finish on a 31:01.6 time, a personal best in the race.
Simon Fillers,
Sam Fulton,
Benjamin Trimm, and
Jaxson Branham would all also post personal best times in the 10k race to round out top finishers for the Railsplitters.Â
