Huntsville, AL- LMU Cross Country wrapped up their regular season at the Charger Invitational today in Huntsville, Alabama. The men finished 15th in the 35 team field while the women would place 9th of 34 competing teams.Â
Grace Rose would once again be the leader for the women's team, running a 6K time of 21:17.90 to finish 10th in the 279 runner field. Joining her in the Top 50 would be
Reaghan Curde, running a 22:05.20 to be the next fastest Splitter on the women's side. The men would be led by
Marig Engelbrecht, running a 24:29.80 in the 8K to finish 25th of 345 runners. Joining him in the Top 100 would be
Jaxson Branham (25:24.20) and
Simon Fillers (25:28.70).Â
Coach Kavalunas added this after today's races: "Both the men's and women's teams had great days. The men's team was led by Engelbrecht top 25 finish. Marig continues to get stronger each week and compete with some of the best runners in D2.
Simon Fillers,
Jaxson Branham, and Louis Borkey each had outstanding races and finished together as a good group. For the women,
Grace Rose stepped up to run in the lead pack in one of the top D2 races in the country. A 10
th place finish is outstanding. The women also ran very well with a big race from
Reaghan Curde and then a good pack of Railsplitter finishing closely with a very good race from freshman
Jacie Begley and
Nadine McIntyre, sophomores
Weslyn McIntosh, and
Katie Smock. In all we had 16 personal best over the 8k and 6k distances."
LMU now looks to the postseason, where they will compete in the SAC Championships in Newberry, South Carolina on Saturday, October 26th.
