Women's basketball slated to take on 4-seed Wingate in opening round of conference tournament

Harrogate, TN - After wrapping up the regular season last Saturday against Limestone at home, the Lincoln Memorial women's basketball team is ready for postseason play, and will take on the 4-seed Wingate Lady Bulldogs on Wednesday at noon in Rock Hill, SC. The regular season series between Lincoln Memorial and Wingate was split, with both road teams securing narrow victories. In Wingate early in the season, the Lady Splitters pulled off a 68-62 victory. At home, it was Wingate who emerged victorious, 69-61.

With a win over the Limestone Lady Saints last Saturday, the Lady Splitters wrapped the regular season with a 19-7 record, including a 14-6 mark in conference play, earning the fifth-seed in the conference tournament.

The Lady Splitters are led in scoring by Lauren Flowers, who averages 16.1 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. She is followed by Jordan Maney, who averages 13.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Alexa Smiddy is the only other player to average double figures, averaging 12.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Geovana Rios is the team's leading rebounder from the point guard position, and is the best rebounding guard in the South Atlantic Conference. She averages nearly a double-double with 8.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

Wednesday's game between the Lady Splitters and Lady Bulldogs is slated for noon in Rock Hill, SC.
