New Orleans, LA – After competing against some of the strongest competition in the Charger Invitational, the Lincoln Memorial Men's and Women's Cross Country teams find themselves both ranked in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll. The women stayed at fifth as the men were ranked at ninth.
The Railsplitters each finished in the top-half of competition on Saturday, with the men ending at 11th and the women coming in ninth. Both teams faced difficult competition, with the men facing six fellow regionally ranked opponents while the women saw seven teams also in the regional rankings.
Tuesday's ranking is the 20th-stright ranking for the women in the top 10 in the Southeast region by the USTFCCCA, with an additional 12-straight top five rankings. This week's poll is the seventh time in a row that the men have been placed in the top 10, which now stands alone as the programs second longest streak appearing in the top 10.
LMU will take the weekend off before facing off in the South Atlantic Conference Championship race on October 25. The race will be hosted by Tusculum University, a course that the Railsplitters finished first in the South Atlantic Conference Preview race earlier this year.
