Harrogate, TN – The postseason continues for the Lincoln Memorial Men's and Women's Cross Country teams, as the Railsplitters travel to Wingate, North Carolina on Saturday to race in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships.
The Railsplitters are coming off of a strong showing in the South Atlantic Conference Championship race, as both teams finished fourth in the race, with two Splitters named to the All-Conference team. Jaxson Branham was honored on the men's side, taking home first-team all-conference, while Weslyn McIntosh was recognized on the women's team with a second-team all-conference selection.
LMU will look to improve their regional ranking in this race, as both squads enter with a top 10 ranking in the latest USTFCCCA poll, as the women sit at fifth and the men sit at eighth.
Saturday's race will mark the second running of the course in Wingate for the Splitters, as both squads competed in the Bulldog Stampede race earlier this season, with the women placing fourth and the men finishing at sixth.
Ahead of the race, head coach Jeff Kavalunas said "This is meeting two of our championship season. Everyone is very excited. Both teams have tapered down the training the last 10 days and have focused on recovery with the goal of having their best and fastest races of the season."
The race will begin with the Women's 6K at 10 am and will continue with the Mens 10K at 11:15. A top three team finish for either squad would guarantee an automatic bid to the NCAA DII Cross Country Championships.
