Sterling Webb takes top 10 finish at NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Pueblo, CO - Sterling Webb, the reigning Regional Indoor Field Athlete of the Year and SAC Women's Heptathlon champion competed in the 2025 NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Pueblo, CO on Thursday and Friday, going against the nation's best. The Lincoln Memorial track and field standout had a tremendous season, culminating a 10th place finish in the women's heptathlon at nationals. She took 8th place in the 100mH, finishing in the 14.35, 9th place in the high jump with a height of 5ft, 3in., 16th in the shot put with a distance of 27ft, 6 3/4in., 10th in the 200m, finishing in 24.88, 8th in the long jump with a distance of 18ft, 2 1/4in., 13th in the javelin throw with a distance of 89ft., and 7th place in the 800m with a time of 2:22.83, securing 10th place overall in the event.

Director of Track and Field Rochelle Black heaped praise on the cross country and track and field programs, highlighting the incredible accomplishments throughout the season(s). He also drew attention to the future, stating that things are "looking up for the team" following some well-earned down-time for everyone.

"Sterling was ranked 13th going into this competition," said Black. "The goal was to finish in the top 12-- she finished 10th. Sterling capped-off an amazing year for the track and field and cross-country program. Our cross-country ladies finished just outside of going to the national competition, setting the stage for what would be a great year. Our ladies indoors finished third, the highest finish ever in SAC competition. The outdoor season may not have seemed as productive, but sixth place in this conference, with a 'who's who' of national talent is an incredible feat. The performances and records, both school and personal, would be enough. A top 10 finish at the national championship is the icing on the cake for the entire program. Incredible year, but let's not kid ourselves, we all need a break. Things are looking up for the team."
