Wingate, N.C. - Lincoln Memorial Men's and Women's Cross Country competed in their second meet of the season today, racing in the Bulldog Stampede hosted by Wingate University. The women's team finished fourth in the 5k while the men came in sixth in the 7k.

THE BASICS 

• Location: Wingate XC Facility; Wingate, North Carolina 

• LMU Men: 6th out of 13 teams (165 Points) 

• LMU Women: 4th out of 13 teams (122 Points) 

• LMU Top Performers: Jaxson Branham, 11th of 144 (22:20.9); Weslyn McIntosh, 12th of 105 (23:04.3) 

HOW IT HAPPENED  

• The LMU women finished six points above #29 Flagler College, as the Splitters finished fourth for teams in the region 

• The men finished two places ahead of the Flagler team, who were ranked at third in the Southeast Region in the most recent USTFCCA poll, as the Railsplitters finished fifth for regional competition in the race.  

FOR THE RAILSPLITTERS  

• Luis Boerkey came in second for the men, finishing at 26th with a time of 22:55.5 

• In his first race of the year, senior Simon Fillers finished with a time of 23:21.8, coming in 41st 

• Jacie Begley finished second on the women's team, coming in 26th with a time of 23:48.7 

• Sophomore Greta Chizzali finished right behind Begley, with a time of 23:51.2 

• Senior Reaghan Curde finished her first race of the season at 28th, running a time of 23:52.7 

• Freshman Emma Hainzer finished right behind Curde with a time of 23:59.4, as the Splitters claimed the spots between 26 and 29.

"Individually we had some solid performances. Weslyn [McIntosh] and Jaxson [Branham] stood out, and we had some good races from Luis [Boerkey] and Reaghan [Curde]. As a team, the women had a close top 7 today. The men struggled a little later in the race causing a larger top 5 spread, but they will close that as season goes on."
