Harrogate, TN - The Lincoln Memorial University Men's and Women's Cross Country teams get ready for their third meets of the season, as they travel to Greeneville, Tennessee for the South Atlantic Conference preview race, hosted by Tusculum University on Saturday.
Each team competed last weekend in the Bulldog Stampede hosted by Wingate University, as the women finished in fourth place while the men finished in sixth place. Weslyn McIntosh led the women's team for the second time, finishing 12th in the women's 6k with a time of 23:04.3. It was a repeat of the first race of the season for the men as well, as Jaxson Branham led the charge, placing 11th with a time of 22:20.9 in the 7k.
This will be the first time since 2021 that the Railsplitters have run the course in Greeneville, as both the men and women earned a first-place finish in the Tusculum Open that year.
Saturday's race will be the first of two meets in Greeneville for LMU, as the Splitters will return for the South Atlantic Conference Championships on October 25th.
Ahead of the race, coach Jeff Kavalunas said "This week is another opportunity for us to see the SAC Championship course and help put together race plans for the championships in October. Both squads will train steadily throughout this meet, and we will work on some group running at the meet."
The meet will begin at 9:15 a.m. with the men's 8k, and will finish with the women's 6k starting at 10:15 a.m. The link to the live results page can be found below.
