Salisbury, N.C. - The Lincoln Memorial men's and women's cross country teams opened their season in the Fleet Feet Invitational today in Salisbury, NC. The men finished third in the 8k while the women ended at second in the 5k.

THE BASICS

• LMU Men: 3rd of 7 (58 points) 

• LMU Women: 2nd of 5 (62 points) 

• Top LMU Performers: Jaxson Branham, 3rd of 66 (26:50.11); Weslyn McIntosh, 9th of 48 (20:08.71) 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Two Railsplitters finished in the top 10 for the men's team, as Lincoln Memorial was one of three teams to finish with under 100 points

• Four runners on the women's team finished in the top 15 for the Railsplitters

FOR THE RAILSPLITTERS 

• Junior Luis Boerkey ended in 10th place with a time of 27:43.91, finishing second for Railsplitter runners 

• Senior Sam Fulton came in third for Railsplitters runners, ending with a time of 27:59.7, good for 12th overall on the mens side.  

• Freshman Vance Laster finished in 16th with a time of 28:19.32 in his first collegiate race 

• Seven runners for the men's team finished the race in the top 30 

• Sophomore Jacie Begley ran a 20:25.32 to finish at 11th in the women's 5k race 

• Freshman Emma Hainzer finished just two spaces below Begley in her first collegiate race with a time of 20:25.32 

• Sophomore Greta Chizzali came in 15th for the women's race with a time of 20:51.77 

• Junior Theresa Brosthaus was the fifth Railsplitter to finish the women's 5k in the top 20, placing 16th with a time of 20:51.86, her second-best career time in the 5k
