Harrogate, TN - The Lincoln Memorial women's soccer team started its season last Thursday on the road in Banner Elk, NC at Lees-McRae. The Railsplitters pulled out a 3-2 victory in dramatic fashion to start the season 1-0. Freshman forward
Paige Branam, playing in her first ever collegiate game, was unstoppable. With help from teammate
Viktoria Filsner, who assisted on each, Branam scored the game's first two goals to give Lincoln Memorial a 2-0 lead. However, Lees-McRae battled back to knot the game at 2-2 late in the contest. Once again, Branam answered the bell, scoring the game-winning goal in the 84th minute of action to secure the season opening victory for the Railsplitters, earning Juice Spot Player of the Week honors.
