Harrogate, TN -- Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball senior opposite hitter Zadyn Labreche has been named the First Century Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week. A senior captain from Leeds, Alabama, Labreche has demonstrated exceptional dedication to both his sport and his studies throughout his four years at the university. He currently maintains a 3.735 GPA as an Exercise and Rehab Science pre-professional major and has earned a spot on the Dean's List for more than six semesters. Labreche is set to graduate with honors this spring and will be inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. Following graduation, he plans to pursue a career in the medical field after completing further specialized schooling.
On the court, Labreche has been a vital component of the Railsplitter volleyball program. He was named to the Second Team All-IVA and contributed to the team earning the 2024-2025 AVCA Team Academic Award. Labreche has been a member of three of the university's seven consecutive IVA national championship teams and is currently working toward a fourth title this spring. His career statistics reflect a steady trajectory of growth, highlighted by an impressive 2026 season where he is averaging 3.00 kills per set with a .304 hitting percentage. Defensively, he has remained a consistent force at the net, currently averaging 1.33 blocks per set and totaling 43 points throughout his career.
Beyond his athletic and academic achievements, Labreche is deeply involved in campus life and community service. He has served as a work-study student for the theater department and has volunteered his time at women's volleyball matches since 2022. Committed to his future in medicine, he has completed over 250 hours as a strength and conditioning intern at LMU and gained further clinical experience at Outlaw Physio and Elevation Physical Therapy. His service extends beyond the local community, including work with the Alabama Boys Volleyball Clinic, participation in the Kiwanis Key Club, and a mission trip to serve at an Indian reservation in Yakama, Washington.
