NORMAN, Ok – Lincoln Memorial University men's golf opened the spring ranked No. 19 in the Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll released March 6, earning 102 points and putting itself firmly in the national conversation after an impressive start to the semester. The Railsplitters were outside the top 25 in the final poll of the fall, making the spring debut ranking a notable step forward as postseason season begins to take shape.
LMU's rise is backed by results on the course, highlighted by a runner-up team finish at the Las Vegas Desert Classic on March 3 in a field packed with ranked competition. The Railsplitters posted a three-round 858 (–6) and finished second only to West Florida, with sophomore Edward Mason leading the way with a second-place individual finish at 208 (–8). Ryan Gavin also delivered a big week, tying for sixth at 212 (–4), as LMU surged into contention with a 274 (–14) second round.
At the top of the poll, West Florida returned to No. 1 after winning its first two spring tournaments, including the Las Vegas Desert Classic by six strokes. The Argonauts received seven first-place votes and 401 points, narrowly edging Lee at No. 2 (396). Grand Valley State sits third, followed by Florida Southern and Wingate rounding out the top five. The next Bushnell/Golfweek DII Coaches Poll is set to be released March 27.
