Freshman outfielder Logan Augustine helped the Railsplitters win all five games this past week, including a three-game sweep of the 23rd-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne Bears in Hickory, N.C. Over that five-game stretch, the Urbandale, Iowa native went 8-for-17 with four RBI, four walks and two stolen bases, increasing his batting average from .444 to .453.
Augustine went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI in a 10-3 win over Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, and he followed that up by going 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI in Saturday's second game. He added two more hits with three runs in the series finale, finishing the Railsplitters’ second straight sweep of the Bears with a 7-for-11 mark at the plate.
Augustine already has eight multi-hit games in his debut season with the Railsplitters. He ranks third in the SAC in batting average, second in on-base percentage (.561) and second in walks (13). His 24 hits rank seventh in the league. The right fielder has turned in a 1.000 fielding percentage with one outfield assist and 33 put outs in 34 chances.
