The LMU Athletes Hall of Fame was founded in 1981 and the first class of 46 was inducted during homecoming activities that year. The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to identify and honor those athletes that developed outstanding skills and represented LMU in a wholesome manner.

Hall of Fame Room member plaque display — Hall of Fame members' plaques

The Hall was initiated by Dr. Gary Burchett shortly after he took office as president of the University in 1981. The original hall of fame committee members were Dr. Floyd "Jack" Bowling '34; Dr. Dan Thomas '40; J. Bruce Mitchell '34; Raymond Sliney '35; and Henry Slover '36.

The original location of the Hall of Fame display was in the Mars Gym but with the opening of the Turner Arena in 1991, the Hall moved to it’s current location on the ground floor of the Arena. Committee member Gene Doss '50 worked with Dr. Burchett to plan the layout of the room and it's displays. The room is maintained by donations from members of the Hall of Fame and other supporters of the LMU Athletic program.

The Hall of Fame room is open to the public and is located in the lower level southeast corner of the Tex Turner Arena. Please see someone in the Athletic Department for access if the room is closed.
