Senior forward Megan Pittman (Liberty, Ky.) helped the eighth-ranked Lincoln Memorial University women's basketball team remain undefeated with a pair of solid performances this past week and has been selected as the Holiday Tire Railsplitter of the Week for January 24, it was announced on Tuesday.
Behind Pittman, who earns her second Railsplitter of the Week plaudit and first since December 20, the Lady Railsplitters moved to 17-0 with wins at Tusculum and Coker last week. Lincoln Memorial is one of just four unbeaten teams across the NCAA Division II along with Ashland, Colorado St.-Pueblo and Virginia Union.
Pittman kicked off her week by posting her eighth double-double of the season in an 83-71 win at Tusculum on Wednesday night. The Liberty, Ky. native notched a season-high 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting to go along with 12 rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Pittman followed that up by scoring 15 points, grabbing three rebounds, handing out two assists and snagging a steal in an 85-68 win at Coker on Saturday.
Pittman has been one of the most productive players in the South Atlantic Conference this season, ranking seventh in points per game (15.1), fourth in rebounds per game (9.8), sixth in blocks (18), 12th in steals (24) and 15th in field-goal percentage (45.5).
The Lady Railsplitters have another tough week ahead as they host Carson-Newman on Wednesday at 8 p.m. before heading to Hickory, N.C. to face the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Those two teams enter the week with a combined eight-game winning streak and a 17-7 SAC record.
